The Healthy Climate Monitor
The Healthy Climate Monitor is the most user-friendly advanced climate monitor of all.
The combination of multiple sensors and images has enabled users to successfully diagnose and remedy livestock problems.
Pigs, goats, calves, poultry and horses: Find out the underlying causes of lung problems, high concentrations of ammonia, unrest and other problems by using its advanced technology.
Measurements
The sensors inside the Healthy Climate Monitor measure: temperature, relative air humidity, CO2, ammonia, air pressure, dust particles, movement and brightness. The camera's allow users to take pictures, analyze the movement of animals and capture thermal images and images at night. Sensors measure every minute. Photos are analysed continuously, and saved upon sufficient movement. All measurements are specified in the table below.
Photos
The HD camera takes photo's at day and night, that show you the behavior of your animals. Do they sleep where you want them to sleep? Compare this to the sensor data and you will understand why they lie there.
Thermal imaging (option)
Fantastic high resolution thermal (FLIR) images of your animals and unit walls/floor: which spots are cold, or warm? Find out the reason why animals like certain spots with these surprisingly informative images.
Brightness
The mean camera brightness is plotted into a measurement graph, so you can clearly see the day-night rhythm that your animals experience, and possibly even save energy.
Ammonia
Ammonia (NH3) is harmful to everyone's health in higher concentrations. It can be felt in your eyes from 7ppm. Frequenlty measured in higher concentrations in closed climate farms.
Carbon dioxide
Carbon dioxide (CO2) provides a good indication for the available oxygen concentration. With sufficient ventilation, CO2 concentrations should be below 1200ppm. Pigs may be kept at a maximum of 3000ppm.
Temperature
The ideal temperature is different for everyone. Also for animals. They cannot put on a sweater or take a blanket. Or go out and take a breath of fresh air. You'll have to look at your animals to see what their optimal temperature is.
Relative air humidity
< 40 RH% is too dry: your mucous membranes dry out, the defense line decreases. Some viruses are more stable at low humidity, e.g. PRRSV*. > 80% RH is too moist: greater risk of some bacteria, e.g. streptococci*.
Air pressure
Low pressure compared to outside is essential for good air flow in mechanically ventilated farms. Compare the outside air pressure with the inside air pressure to see if your system works as expected.
Movement
Automatic analysis of the subjects in the photos: we visualize their movement as a measurement value so you can predict health issues and abnormalities such as tail biting of pigs.
Dust
Fine dust is invisible dust. The smaller, the further it can get into your lungs. Particulate matter with a diameter lower than 10 micrometer (PM 10) is not filtered by nose and through mucous membranes, so it is unhealthy. Also for animals.*
Sound (option)
Screaming, coughing, sneezing: we want to hear it all. Sound is analyzed continuously and plotted into spectrograms for easy interpretation of loud noises in the audio spectrum.
Extra sensors
Tell us if you want to measure any other substance and we can adopt your Healthy Climate Monitor to do so. We have already built in methane (CH4), fertilizer gas (H2S) and VOC sensors.

How can I access my data?
Information stored by your Healthy Climate Monitor(s) can be accessed 24/7 on both your computer or phone. You can access your data directly via the app on your phone or through the Customer Portal. Important to note: you will at all times maintain full ownership of your data; what you do with it is up to you.
In addition to automatic measurements, you can also easily register manually performed farm inspections in the app. This allows you to gain insight into your farm scoring over a set period of time.
Plug and go
Simply hang the Healthy Climate Monitor(s) in my farm, and that’s that?
Yes, it’s that simple! Simply suspend the monitor from the ceiling and plug it in: no need for intricate installation processes or network connections. The robust casing is specially made for farm environments; data is transferred via the internal mobile connection, using 4G or WIFI/ethernet.
It’s up to you where you want to start measuring first. Animal behaviour and air quality can both be measured. Start measuring where the air is mixed and away from a vent or air-intake. Hang the chain over a feed pipe, beam or hook and fasten the Healthy Climate Monitor with the carabiner. Easy does it! Good to know: the power cord is 20 meters / 66 feet long and safe due to the use of low voltage.
